The Postignano Music Festival was created to make Castello di Postignano a convivial space, where concerts, meetings, and celebrated artists enliven the village with experiences that combine listening, sharing, and discovery.
To conclude the 2025 cultural season, Castello di Postignano presents the third edition of the Postignano Music Festival, under the artistic direction of Maestro Luigi Piovano and the presidency of Enrico Ducrot, featuring internationally acclaimed artists.

September brings music back within the walls of Castello di Postignano.
From 4 to 6 and 11 to 13 September 2026, Castello di Postignano opens its medieval courtyards for a third edition of the festival, with concerts curated by maestro Luigi Piovano and a programme uniting music, landscape and culture in one of Umbria’s most emblematic villages.
Postignano is a special village. Founded in the ninth century and long left to ruin, the castle has come back to life through a restoration that has returned dignity to the ancient stone without betraying its character. The vision of Gennaro Matacena and Matteo Scaramella made this village a recognised point of reference, documented in the publication Castello di Postignano, un recupero esemplare , edited by Luigi Fressoia — among the most cited models of urban and territorial regeneration in Italy.
The music festival forms part of a cultural programme that brings the village to life from spring to autumn. Each evening, the church of the SS. Annunziata and the old squares become a place of encounter and artistic exchange, giving music a setting that few places in Italy can offer — a stage for established artists and new musical talent.
Postignano is also round table, conversation, encounter: the festival is not confined to its concerts, but extends into dinners within the village walls, where the flavours of Umbrian cooking accompany the evening’s music.

We have reached the third edition of the Postignano Music Festival! I invite you to join us — for the richness of the surrounding countryside, for the extraordinary beauty of the setting, and for the concerts on offer. This year, once again, the Festival unfolds over two weeks, with events concentrated across two weekends — Friday, Saturday and Sunday — offering, as has become customary, a varied programme suited to every taste, from the Baroque to contemporary music.
We have renewed our collaboration with the Morlacchi Conservatory of Music in Perugia to commission an exclusive piece for string quartet, which will receive its world premiere at the Festival’s opening and will then be published by Suvini Zerboni.
The great success of the round-table discussions curated by Carlo Cavalletti, in collaboration with the History of Music class at the Morlacchi Conservatory of Music in Perugia, will again offer audiences the chance to explore, in greater theoretical depth, the particular qualities of the pieces performed.
My sincere and affectionate thanks go to Gennaro Matacena and Matteo Scaramella for this renewed opportunity, and to all the artists who will accompany us on this wonderful journey through music, art, landscape — and cuisine.

Carlo Cavalletti
He has written programme notes and delivered lectures for numerous leading musical institutions. He is the author of the children’s book Chopin e la musica romantica ( Chopin and Romantic Music ) and of an essay on the musical theatre of Nino Rota, published by EDT.
From 2000 to 2005, he served as Artistic Coordinator of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, and from 2005 to 2008 he was Artistic Director of the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte. In 2009, he founded the artists’ management agency Cavartists.
Born in Rome, he holds a diploma in piano and studied music history at La Sapienza University under Fedele D’Amico and Pierluigi Petrobelli. Since 2006, he has lived in Montepulciano, Tuscany.
He is the author of the book “Guido Cantelli – La perfezione come necessità”, published by Zecchini, 2026, which tells the story of the great conductor who died tragically at only 30 years of age.
